It's good, generally, to keep a clear vision of our desires in mind, and to focus on how it'll feel to have those desire fulfilled. But sometimes, focusing on a desire can just make us more aware of the fact that it hasn't manifested yet, and it can be difficult to move our attention away from this lack of manifestation.
If that's the case, it can be helpful to temporarily stop focusing on what we want. Instead, focus on what is great and successful in our lives already. Doing this removes our attention from lack, and places it on what we've successfully manifested. From this more positive state of mind, where we see ourselves as successful already, it is then easier to go back to focusing on our dreams - this time without the strong awareness of lack.
Abraham makes this point on one of their Mexican cruise CDs, in response to a guest who was complaining that she felt as if her desire was close to manifesting, but never seemed to show up:
"Well you don’t really [feel close]! Because we’re having this discussion because you’re feeling frustration that it has not come… And it really doesn’t do any good, to say, why isn’t it coming, why isn’t it coming, I think I’m so close, why isn’t it coming? Because that just keeps active the vibration that isn’t letting it come. So, what we suggest you do, is get your attention off whatever it is, get your attention off the fact hat it hasn’t come, and start finding things about that subject and about your life that you are enjoying and making peace with."

Visualising our desires is great, but sometimes it can be just as important to take time to refocus our attention in the present, and remind ourselves how many desires we've already manifested!
